AI Usage Policy
This policy provides clear guidance to authors, reviewers, and editors regarding the responsible and ethical use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies (hereafter referred to as “AI Tools”) in scholarly publishing. MISOOL: Jurnal Pendidikan Dasar will continuously monitor developments in AI and update this policy in accordance with international publishing standards and best practices.
The journal acknowledges that AI Tools may assist authors in improving the quality of manuscripts, including language enhancement, structuring, and summarizing content. However, AI Tools must not replace human intellectual contribution, critical thinking, or scholarly judgment. All outputs generated by AI must be carefully reviewed and validated by the authors.
- Accuracy and Verification: Authors must verify all AI-generated content, including references and citations.
- Originality: Manuscripts must reflect the author’s own intellectual contribution and not rely solely on AI-generated content.
- Transparency: The use of AI Tools must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript.
- Data Protection: Authors must ensure that the use of AI Tools does not violate privacy, confidentiality, or intellectual property rights.
AI Tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions and are accountable for the content of the work.
Authors must disclose the use of AI Tools in a separate statement within the manuscript, specifying the name of the tool, its purpose, and how the output was verified. Routine tools for grammar or spelling correction do not require disclosure.
The use of AI Tools to generate, manipulate, or alter figures and images is not permitted, except when such use constitutes an integral part of the research methodology and is clearly described in the Methods section.
Manuscripts under review are confidential documents. Reviewers are strictly prohibited from uploading any part of a manuscript into AI Tools, as this may compromise confidentiality, data privacy, and intellectual property rights.
Peer review requires independent critical evaluation. Reviewers must not rely on AI Tools to generate or assist in their review reports. They remain fully responsible for the accuracy, objectivity, and integrity of their assessments.
Editors must maintain strict confidentiality and are prohibited from uploading manuscripts or editorial communications into AI Tools. This ensures the protection of authors’ intellectual property and sensitive information.
Editorial decisions must be based on human judgment, academic merit, and ethical considerations. Editors are fully responsible for the evaluation process and final decisions. Any suspected misuse of AI must be reported and handled in accordance with the journal’s ethical policies.
